I loved playing in the sand, this is layer upon layer of tiny pieces of torn magazine pieces, you could play in the sand for hours, the more tiny pieces the better the sand looked.

Mystery Bug #99 Torn Paper Collage Painting, portrait of Jeannies "baby."

The Harvest; Torn Paper Painting #98.

I did this one from a special request, my friend provided me with some special paper that I was able to incorporate into the piece. This one is number 97. Creeping up to the 100th picture in this medium, and still finding it rewarding.
Got asked to do a picture of a sunflower. I had always wanted to see if I could recreate the fibonacci sequence in the center of the sunflower. This was quite the challenge, I hope I was able to capture the pattern. This one was fun.

I was asked to give a workshop on tornpaper art for the art honor society students at Battlefield High School this November. I'm so looking forward to the experience. I have had to take some time away from my art in the recent months, house renovation doesn't allow much down time. Wish me luck on the workshop.

Our small little town has taken on so many changes in the last several years, this building was once the center of town. It no longer exists, but holds lots of fond memories for my girls and I. In this picture I incorporated some newspaper articles that I had been holding onto for just such an occasion. I think using the history in the piece will give it that much more meaning down the road as well. This building is long gone now, the stones that the building was constructed with were also from a local quarry.

I call this one pear on my favorite plate, I no longer have the plate, broke it, I have this one hanging in my kitchen. #45

Count down to our summer vacation. This is a picture done from our previous vacation in Naples Florida. This year I hope to do some new pictures, I want to do some family pics of the kids on the beach and in the waves. We should have lots of picture opportunities this year with all the little ones. Can't wait!

Tiny Dancers Group

This is my latest picture to add to the Tiny Dancers collection.

This is the "Beast of Burden" series, each is connected by a particular paper used in all three pictures.

Saturday, February 21, 2009

This one is Beast of Burden #3, all three pictures share pieces of the same paper so that when they are next to each other you can see that they belong together and are connected. I think I may end up doing two or three more in this series, I have some interesting pictures of camels and I think I'm going to include an Alaskan dog sled as well.

I often enjoy looking at the artist work space, I thought you might like a little glimpse into mine. My family gave the work table to me for my birthday, my daughter keeps me organized with the storage bins. As you can see I currently sit facing a window, I love the natural light. I keep my colored paper in sandwich bags and pull from them as I work. I often run out of wall space, so I am always looking to find good homes for the work I am ready to replace.

This is my very first self portriat
it's only a pencil sketch and that's
probably all it will ever be.
I sit in my living room when I
work on my art, I enjoy the family
environment, I do my best work
in front of the television, I have to
have the background noise.
